Mark's Biography

A native of the Kansas City area, Mark Bishop graduated from Baker University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1981.

Mark began his professional career in sales working for the consumer products group of Beatrice, Inc., which is now part of ConAgra. Mark was promoted several times at Beatrice and ended up as a Territory Sales Manager working out of Chicago Illinois.

In 1986 Mark discovered the cable television industry when he was recruited by Home Box Office Services to join their Affiliate Operations group as an Account Manager in the Kansas City office. Over the next five years Mark managed the sales and marketing activities for HBO in Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and the St. Louis DMA.

In 1991 Mark left HBO when the Kansas City office was shut down as part of a company wide restructuring. That same year Mark was hired as Vice President of Sales for a large chain of quick print stores. Mark’s specific role was to form a new business printing division and was responsible for creating, training and managing a new commercial sales force.

In 1996 Mark was recruited by a former colleague at HBO to go to work for Sprint North Supply as their Manager of Strategic Marketing. Mark was selected to help Sprint get back into the CATV equipment distribution business. After only a year he received a call from the National Cable Television Cooperative to help them with the same goal.

Realizing a much larger opportunity with the NCTC, Mark joined the Co-op’s hardware marketing effort in the fall of 1997. Since that time Mark has been instrumental in growing the NCTC’s hardware business from a $4.5 million to a $100 million department. A key to Mark’s success was the creation of an advisory group made up of member companies that helped solidify member participation and support in creating the new department.

Mark resides in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife and three sons. Recreational activities include attending a huge number of little league football, baseball and soccer games, camping and boating.
